I looked around on search a little, most places say around 5% bother to train their dog. Depressing but not unexpected. Dogs like to be trained and have limits, at least if it is done the way it should be. Of course puppies are different as you say.

Small dogs go more untrained than larger breeds/dogs. For obvious reasons, an untrained small dog is much less consequential. In fact I don’t think I have ever been around a small/toy dog that was trained, maybe in circus shows or something. Maybe it has something to do with brain size as well?

Wow.

That is *much* lower than I expected and really disappointing.

Small dogs tend to be babied and I suspect people worry about being ‘rough’ with them.
And indeed, some tiny breeds, like Teacup Chihuahuas are very fragile.

My aunt had one and she carried it everywhere.
And *every* chance it got, it would try to bite my mom when she walked past my aunt.
