For over 40 years, I’ve had Dobermanns and my family questioned that choice and always worried about their “viciousness”.
My sister has a pack of Dachshunds who bite everyone, including her.
In the midst of this mayhem, are her two little kids, yet no one worries about them.
Never had any of my Dobes attack me.
Go figure.
I just talked to a biker tonight, who recently lost his Rottweiler to Lyme and he somehow wound up with a Yorkie/Maltese mix.
Big hairy, scary guy, showing me photos of himself cuddling with that little fuzzball, the love in his voice, was palpable.
I teared up a bit.
I had a relative who had a Doberman for years, who was like, the best dog on the planet. I think, when it comes to dogs, ya pays yer money, ya takes yer chances. His kids were very boisterous, and many dogs would be aggressive around anyone who is fighting, wrestling, or even yelling. I know a woman who got in an argument with her boyfriend, and when they got in each other’s faces, their pit bull went ape, and started attacking them. Thank God the kids weren’t home. With dogs, you just never know. Our mini dachshund will try to bite me, if I get close to my husband when the dog’s in his lap. And it’s not personal. If he’s in my lap, he’ll act the same way, towards my husband. He’s a bit of a psycho. Dachshunds can be so sweet, but we happened to get a dud. He wasn’t like that at first, but as he aged, he got cranky. And we’ve never been harsh with him, either. He’s extremely jealous. But, we don’t have kids at our house, and as I said, if they visit, the dog’s are shut up in another room. If we had kids, the dog would have been history a long time ago, but we got him, and we’re responsible for him, so here he sits.
