My female Dobie LOVES her sweater. She hates it when winter ends and she doesn’t get a sweater.

That horror story is gruesome but your version, well, I laughed.
[thinking of Monty Python skits...just a flesh wound]

My Dobes are Euros.

They are nothing like their American spin-offs.

They only bark if they’re unable to physically accost their person of interest.

If they are able, they never make a sound.

They’re just suddenly...there.

And serious.

My Macaw story [are they Scottish? LOL] involves my horrid ex.

We had neighbors who had a huge aviary in the back yard, filled with a hundred different small, glorious birds and one angry Blue Macaw.

We were marveling at him one day, when the ex, for reasons I’ll never fathom, suddenly had a Disney Moment, and imagined he could take hold of the bird.

It grabbed his finger and chomped the bejeezus out of it.
He screamed like a girl.

And yes, I *did* say “You should not do that” right before he did it.

He should have listened.

Probably because people tend to baby them and allow them to act like little monsters since they’re so small and “cute”, and eventually, they find out their little Pepe has the temperament and bite of a Velociraptor.

My male not only deftly removes his coat, he takes all the other dogs’ coats off of them, as well.

I think he’s part of some weird, German nudist cult.

Less than five minutes after this was taken, he had removed the coat and mauled the hat.

No fashionista, he.

My male seems to love the sweaters for a while because he gets jealous when she gets one so he will let Mom put one on him but after a couple hours he gets “distracted” and forgets and starts chewing it. SHe doesn’t. SHe will wear her sweaters all winter without one bite.

Wake me when we get to the point where we admit that pit bulls are a magnet for the stupid, reckless, and malicious.

Salamander: you said you were going to leave this thread. It would be better without your cherry picking.

I know someone who had a Besenji and they LOVE very warm temperatures.

She’d open the car door in the summer and it would be like an oven in there, and the dog would hop in and curl up on the seat with a sigh of content.

Anyways, she bought him a sweater, just a loose fitting thing that went over his back mostly, and after the second or third time wearing it, she picked it up for some reason and he stretched out his neck as if she were going to put it on him.

He loved it cause it kept him warm.

But she only used it at home and kept his dignity as a dog and NEVER used bows or ruffles or other outlandish paraphernalia.

“In my area, not really a “Pit zone”, I see 4 times as many Pits as other breeds.”

Maybe because most dog owners don’t take their dogs around wherever they go. How about some actual numbers from what’s probably a pretty typical city, Boston? Or ask your vet what percentage of the dogs they see are pits.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

https://www.boston.com/news/local-news/2014/06/24/but-my-pit-bull-would-never-attack-may-be-wishful-thinking

According to data provided to Boston.com from Mayor Marty Walsh’s press office, there were a total of 661 reported dog bites in the city of Boston between January 2012 and June 2014, which included bites against animal, human and unknown victims.

Of these 661 reported bites, 150 were caused by pit bulls and 30 from pit bull mixes, making over one-fourth of the bites coming from pit bull breeds.

Pit bulls make up a little over 3 percent of the entire dog population of Boston. There are 250 registered pit bulls, pit bull mixes and Staffordshires listed as registered in the 2014 list of dog licenses, as provided to Boston.com, with a total of 7,355 registered dogs in the city.

I had a Miniature Pinscher who had no clue he was not a Dobie.

The black and tan markings of the Doberman’s and Rottweiler’s run from the Chihuahuas all the way up to the Great Danes.

One day, My min-pin, Goliath, (he was twice the breed average size) was at the dog park and off his leash when a Great Dane came in the far gate. She was magnificent and every dog there sensed that they were outclassed. Well, everyone but Goliath.

He looked at her then up at me, back at her and again at me. I could tell he was in love. He had found himself a big legged woman and he took off at full charge to make her acquaintance. Maybe this is where Rottweiler’s came from?

The Dane’s owner and I had a good laugh over poor Goliath’s rejection. It would have been great to have that on video.

Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard to fetch her doggie a bone. But when she got there the cupboard was bare....so she speed-dialed Pizza Hut for their famous "Pepperoni and doggie bone" pizza

>>Why chihuahuas?

Around here they are everywhere because of all the Mexicans. I was at the county animal shelter a while back looking to adopt. They had Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas all over the place. Dozens of each. I noticed a Veterinarian walking down the row of kennels with a checklist in his hand, and assistant in tow. I noted that he was shaking his head and muttering something as he checked off items on his list. Listening more closely I was able to hear what he was muttering.

“Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas... Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas”

And nobody wants them. But on the day that two purebred Chocolate Labs showed up, and I inquired about adopting one or both, I was informed that if the owner didn’t show up to claim them there would be a lottery to see who gets them. (The owner claimed them)

I’m sure there must be fine specimens of Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas out there... I’ve just never run into one. The Pit Bulls I’ve seen carry a posture of physical intimidation and the Chihuahuas are yappers. And based on how their owners seem to abandon them (around these parts anyway), I don’t have high hopes for either breed.

The root of the problem is not the breed of dog, but that humans continue to forget that dogs are animals and are not made in the image of God like mankind.

They are driven by instinct, and do not have the knowledge of good and evil that was obtained in the Garden of Eden.

It is really sad when people get so desperate for companionship that they treat their animals like humans and expect them to respond in kind.

Sadder still is when people, usually the rich, make a show of adopting underprivileged children and treating them like pets.

That’s the story. I’d forgotten how attractive la Abuela (Grandma) was. Not that looks really matters when you get bit hard on the arm. It was her dog who would not accept the sweater.
