We ride “in” a car, but ride “on” a train.

We park in the driveway; but we drive on the parkway.

Sending something by car is called a “shipment”;
while sending something by ship is called “cargo”.

Can you imagine trying to speak English with all of these exceptions-——although it is probably true of all languages.
