“Our revolutionary forces are combat-ready to sink a U.S. nuclear powered aircraft carrier with a single strike,”

It’s my understanding from reading various sources over the past few months. I thought I read somewhere these carriers are disassembled at high cost at a shipyard. They’re not sunk and used as artificial reef. The reason is because they’re remarkably difficult to sink for reasons that are classified.

Seems like an empty boast to me.

Puffed up rhetoric from a puffball. It’s hard not to feel a trifle of pity though he has it coming and how for what he did to his people.

Have a nephew who is about 20 yrs in the Navy and serves aboard one of these beasts. According to him, each Carrier has a surrounding task force containing several war ships including a submarine. Where the Carrier goes, the task force goes.

He also said the counter measures of these ships would be able to identify and stop any aircraft or ship before it gets with 150 miles of the task force.

He also said the ability to pick up, target and destroy incoming missiles (either above or below the surface) is as close to being 100% as today’s technology allows.

The Carriers are NOT invulnerable but they are able to launch a counter attack on who ever is attacking them before they suffer any damage because there are armed aircraft sitting on the flight deck ready to launch at moments notice when the ship is traveling under alert conditions.

So it’s ok to blow them up anyway?

Might one say it's compartmented information?

Don't take the NK threat so literally or get hung up over the word "sink:" He probably meant merely "destroy."

An A-bomb might (under the right conditions) simply vaporize rather than sink a carrier.

You could be right, but never underestimate your opponent, especially when he’s a raving lunatic. A tactical nuke could do it. And I believe this nut is more than capable of launching one.

Over many decades the North Koreans have learned to march in lock-step with their “dear leader” and do anything he desires of them without question. All this reminds me of the movie “Northern Limit Line”. Although crude in technology and tactics, even to the point of using old T-34 tank turrets as naval armament, the modern and high-tech South Korean ship didn’t stand a chance in a one-on-one fight.

In my opinion Fat Boy has the means and firepower to carry out his threats, and the temperament to do it.
