Up until the 1950’s that was not at all unusual in the United States.

Interestingly, age-gap marriages between younger women and older men are on the increase again due to younger men either being unsuitable for marriage or disinterested.

No, my grandfather was only eleven yours older—This was Wyoming.

My great-grandfather was 41 in 1920 and married a 12 year old girl. His second marriage. Her parents signed consent. She died in childbirth from eclampsia when she was 16.
