For a guy that was pretty stable prior to this, managing a life on the run had to be extremely difficult. Any time he tried to access his bank account or credit card, he would be tracked. He could only last as long as the cash held out. And as for getting a paying job, hard to do without ID, or skills that extend beyond teaching math.
Anyway, I always thought that the girl ran off with him, and who knows, she might have been an instigator for all we know. Legally, it's still kidnapping as she's underage. A school teacher should have known that nothing good would ever come of this, and it looks as though he will see many years of prison. By the time he gets out, his fifteen year old girlfriend will be in her forties or fifties. Can't imagine she'll be waiting for him.

I hope you're right; but since she is only 15, it's hard to imagine the liberal judiciary giving him a 30- to 40-year sentence. Society will be lucky if he gets 10 years. She, of course, will write to him and as soon as she can drive, will try to visit, unless they send him many states away. I hope they do, since he has several actual children who will be much better off without having him near enough for them to visit.
