Anyone would have to be stark raving crazy to fly on that airline now.

Since it’s bash United Airlines Day, here is a little story.

On the One Year Anniversary of 9/11 I had to fly out of John Wayne Airport in Orange County to Seattle on a Business Trip.

The Airport was pretty much deserted. There were exactly 13 Passengers on my Flight.

I get into Seattle and my Luggage is no where in sight.
They sent it to Denver by mistake.

“Why would United CEO even issue a statement, if they weren’t responsible? Where is the Republic CEO statement, if (as you’re saying) they’re responsible.”

I think it’s appalling that United has to take the blame. As I said before, a Washington Post journalist was on the plane, his wife took the videos, and they put the story out there.

9 times out of 10, if you hear negative stories about “United,” it’s one of the regional airlines they use. I hate flying them.

This might explain further how Republic Airways is related to United, American, and Delta.

> Corporate veil is a legal term... look it up. By sticking his nose into this he pierced that veil. <

Corporate veil...I think you might be on to something here. But seeing that ‘United’ was painted on the side of the plane, I guess the United CEO felt he had to issue a statement.

AND, for what it’s worth, there no longer is a United Airlines - it was bought out by Continental Airlines; they just kept the name.

Too bad they lowered the service standards to United’s level, rather than keep the (formerly) great Continental service :(

Our last Continental flight crew (from Hawaii) warned us (when merger was about complete) what was about to happen...with service standards....and, unfortunately, they were right. The flights do not even compare.

Well wasn’t aware of that. United on the side of the plane makes them co-defendants. That right there pierced the veil.

Well, both ‘Seattle’ and ‘Denver’ have lots of e ‘s in them, so I can see how United would get them mixed up.

There is nothing humorous about UAL. They are the largest airline in the world and have the worst customer relations in the world of corporations.
I flew two round trips with UAL, that is four trips from an origin to a destination. Stowed bags were "lost" all four times. When asked for water, staff was surly with a "you had yours three hours ago!" attitude. Half the cabin staff was overweight sufficient to make it impossible for someone to get past one of them in an aisle.
Attitude was very much that they work for UAL so they can wear spiffy uniforms and go to exotic places; passengers are the shit that those greedy bosses make them deal with on the way. They don't see why passsengers can't be loaded with a fork lift.
Wife tracked down the first bag lost. She called and patiently pushed numbers and got shifted from phone to phone until someone in the warehouse in Chicago picked up the phone. She described the bag which had my name on it large and he said he had seen it just the day before and was sure UAL could get it to her in a couple of days.
Instead UAL sent me an official disclaimer stating that their legal office had determined that UAL was not liable and the bag would not be returned nor compensated. The truth apparently is that a percentage of economy class luggage is never loaded in the first place but is sent to Chicago. Economy class passengers are presumed to not have attorneys on retainer.

YES...that’s what I’ve been trying to say, but I was only a flight attendant for 36 years. No one believes me. People only believe pilots. lol

And yes.....Continental took over United before 2012. They called it a “merge,” but the CEO was from Continental, and all 24 other “leaders,” were from Continental or other companies. Out of the 24, three were from United.

All our generous employee United benefits were dropped, and as of March, 2012, we were under Continental rules. Not good.

Crazy. How did it all end? Did you eventually get your luggage back? Did you contact the FAA?

Yeah but the ticket and the Airplane say “United” so it’s a distinction without a difference.

“Too bad they lowered the service standards to United’s level, rather than keep the (formerly) great Continental service :(”

You’re wrong! The CEO of Continental Airlines, Jeff Smisek, and 21 “leaders” all came from Continental. There were all Continental rules when United and Continental “merged.” The only thing they kept was the “United” name. Continental took over! Continental’s Jeff Smisek did a horrible job so they got rid of him.

Passenger should have sang while being deunited from his seat/plane:

“I Believe I Can Fly”

I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I’m leaning on the everlasting arms

If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it

[Chorus:]
I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly

See I was on the verge of breaking down
Sometimes silence can seem so loud
There are miracles in life I must achieve
But first I know it starts inside of me, oh

If I can see it, then I can be it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it

[Chorus]

Hey, cause I believe in me, oh

If I can see it, then I can do it (I can do it)
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it

[Chorus]

Hey, if I just spread my wings
I can fly
I can fly
I can fly, hey
If I just spread my wings
I can fly-eye-eye-eye
Hum, fly-eye-eye

What you are saying is correct legally. What we have here is corporate veils being pierced. When I worked at a company that used corporate veils as a legal strategy to avoid liability I learned a LOT about this very thing. United logo on the ticket. Veil pierced. United on the side of the plane. Veil pierced. United CEO issuing apology and follow up buck up letter to employees. Strike three and just for fun strike four. AUL the parent company had their veils pierced. They are culpable.

They had better get out their check book. This guy is going to get 5 million plus in settlement. AUL can not afford for this to go in front of a jury. They would get handed 50 million in punitive damages.

No and no. The bag and contents were not worth the continued hassle. I simply resolved to never fly on UAL aircraft again. It helps that shortly after that United ceased going to TSN. They still sell the cheapest tickets for the trip but you fly the short intra-USA hops on their sub United Airways which is average service and fine for short hops and then the long jumps on ANL which is really nice, as all the east Asian A/Ls are.
