I bought a 1954 Gillette safety razor (the deluxe one with the dial open top) on Ebay for $30 and 100 Wilinson Sword blades for $20 and I will probably never need another blade in my life. Both the razor and a significant quantity of the blades will probably outlive me.

I remember Daddy using one like that in the early 50s. He had a cup with a round bar of shaving soap and a round brush to mix up a batch and apply to the face.

Around 1965 he switched to the injector razor and stainless steel blades which was all the rage at the time.
