Do you think my post #19 might cover the Ernie Chambers mod? Better yet, a double-barreled version, as sometimes one shot (term) is not enough...
BTW I’m originally from Nebraska and also ridiculed the Unicameral until living in other states to see that bicameral legislatures are even worse, get even less accomplished, and cost much more than twice as much. I’d take the unicameral any day.
Bob - yes that’s a great modification for Nebraska. I’m positive that there are many of us who would supply Ernie with this weapon, as much ammo as he could shoot, and a membership to any one of the many new ranges that are popping up in eastern Nebraska.
I totally agree on the Unicameral. Nowadays it’s a “NINO” - Nonpartisan In Name Only. You’ve got a majority of rural conservative senators and a few Omaha/Lincoln senators who are conservative fighting against a minority of Omaha/Lincoln liberal senators. Fortunately this session they’ve spent the majority of their limited time arguing about filibuster rules as opposed to debating and amending their horrible ideas.
And yes, I too am convinced a Unicameral, single house legislature is the way to go. When you’re in the business of Bad Ideas, the best option is to only have one conveyor belt.
