They also skipped the state of Washington.
For Washington, DC, I would suggest the Sig Sauer .357 used by the Secret Service.

Clicking the “link” on the web page only takes me to an ad for Kimber.
Is there any way to actually read the article?
I’d be curious to know what the gun each of the seven states selected.
I’m guessing Kentucky has the Kentucky Long Rifle...

Seriously? That would get any child dragged out of a California school in handcuffs, and possibly charged and convicted of terrorist threats as well!

The link is working. Stupid advice, I know, but you should be able to just scroll down the page.
Kentucky
Kentucky Long Rifle
Longrifles saw considerable use during the War of 1812, and it was thanks to an 1824 song The Hunters of Kentucky, that they were dubbed Kentucky rifles

When people ask anything about the gun culture of Arizona, I start by telling them that to begin with, the State Flower is a Glock 19.

If Missouri had a state gun it would probably be a 30-30 lever action rifle.
