Seems like a boring news day,What's Your Favorite One-hit Wonder Song?
yay for Spirit in the Sky!!!!
Golden Earring is NOT a one hit wonder.
Yes, that song rocks!
I have it on a completely different label.
I think the original (actually THEM cover) of Gloria was on Dunwich. Shake was later and on some other obscure label. But I can’t remember what it was off the top of my head.
The Knack’s second biggest hit didn’t happen until 1991.
The Knack - Rocket O’Love

Name another song by
Wall of Voodoo??
ProcoharHaram....whatever...
Sheesh ...have fun with it.
BKM - Need a better version of “Radar Love” .
Key Largo by Bernie somebody who tried it again withe a sound-alike Casablanca. Fail.
I think the only reason why Ms.Ripperton didn’t have any other hits is that she died of cancer not that long after “Loving You” became a hit.
Been going off memory here.
But did decide to look that one up. Was a big hit (#2) in the UK but only hit 29 in the US. I just did remember it as a followup to True.
Here we go Brandy, Walking on Sunshine, 99 Red Balloons. For Katrina or who ever has rights to Walking on Sunshine it has been worth a lot having been used in several movies and lots of commercials. Honorable mention to Eileen.
“Nancy also scored with Sugar Town.
And Jackson with Lee Hazelwood”

Yup & “Some Velvet Morning” which is still a pretty great tune.

A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum
I’m with it - can you dig it?
From Francis Scott Key in 1817:
Lord, with glowing heart I’d praise thee
For the bliss thy love bestows,
For the pard’ning grace that saves me,
And the peace that from it flows.
Help, O God, my weak endeavor,
This dull soul to rapture raise:
Thou must light flame, or never
Can my love be warmed to praise.
Tune: Ripley. Arranged by Lowell Mason, 1839.

Yeah, record companies often switched the B-sides. Them w/Van Morrison version didn’t get any airplay in my area. The Shadows of Knight version of “Gloria” was a big national hit.
