Can't remember the name of the movie. Little girl needed a new dress. There was no money. Grandpappy made her a dress out of his best shirt. Kids at school laughed.
I think all Cohen Brothers movies adopt this similar dialect. Whether it be Raising Arizona or Fargo or whatever.
It’s not just the great quotes, but the method in which the actors are speaking them.
Great stuff.
“Well, when I came home from school my head started to get really hot. So I drank some cold water, but it didn’t do nothing. So I laid in the bathtub for a while, but then I realized that it was my hair that was making my head hot. So I went into my kitchen and I shaved it all off. I don’t want anyone to see.”
From 1935 W.C. Fields:

Eddie Rochester “What’s a Ubangi, boss?”

I saw that movie with a bunch of people who didn’t really like it, but it was very quirky and I liked it.
However, I was not aware at the time of what a flaming mindless a-hole liberal Clooney was, and now I can’t bring myself to watch it again.
I do like the Coen Brothers stuff in general. One movie I HAVE to watch again is “Blood Simple”. I remember really liking that, I hope I am not confusing it with something else.
First Jail Guard: “They’re still working on him. He won’t break.”

Without looking, first guess would be Casablanca, and second guess would be Godfather.

From the 1940 film “The Ghost Breakers”:
Lawrence (aka Bob Hope): “You live here?”
Montgomery: “Yes.”
Lawrence: “Then maybe you know what a zombie is”

Carter: “How horrible!”
