Uh, alleged rape and the ones lawyer says he ain’t guilty? Consensual? WTH? At least one of them was slated for deportation. What the heck? He/they end up enrolled in school so they can learn English for when they once again turn up illegally? What a country huh? Heard there was a SCOTUS ruling in ‘82 that covers their enrollment or something.

Yes, SCOTUS has ruled that public schools must enroll pretty much anyone under 18 who shows up regardless of their immigration status. I’m pretty sure the burden of proof as to the age of the enrollee is on the school, ie. they’d have to be able to prove that he is not 18 or over. And since ‘undocumented’ in this case really means undocumented, there’s no quick way to be sure. The fact that you have someone ‘18’ years old (or is it 23?) in 9th grade is enough to generate some ‘hate’ mail.
