Can't disagree, but look at Muscular Dystrophy as an example. For 50 years (or more?) Jerry Lewis used to do the MD Telethon and raised about $45-$50 million per year. After 50 years and billions of dollars donated, there's essentially no change.
I just have a damned difficult time wondering how Jonas Salk cured polio in less than 5 years, with a relatively small budget, and no one else - in half a century - can come close?
