I actually saw him once, in a kind of small venue somewhere in south LA. I of course thought he was ancient then! Awesome music.

Au Contraire.

Chuck Berry’s first post-prison album, “St. Louis to LIverpool,” was released in November 1964 and included “You Never Can Tell” and “No Particular Place to Go.”

One of the most important musicians in American history, with an impact that is still felt today. RIP.

Obviously, you cannot be a fan of the Canadian band, RUSH, who recently celebrated 40 years of music making, and nearly 20 albums of original material, together.

And Glenn Hughes is still going strong after nearly 50 years. His his latest solo album was came out in fall 2016, and his band Black Country Communion will release their fourth studio album later this summer.

Chuck’s somgs were great, R and R poetry, But his guitar playing was just him ripping off licks from his fabulous Boogie Woogir pianist, the great Johnnie Johnson. Interesting in his transposition of the piano licks to guitar, but nothing great. I preferred Bo Diddly and Link Wray for shear R and R punk violence,

CB paid out a fortune in lawsuit settlement money over allegations of taping women undressing, going to the bathroom and making sex tapes. He was also a major perv with some disgusting fetishes. Google is your friend.

The absolute King and Father of Rock & Roll bar none . I met Chuck in 1975 in Portland Ore. he was at a free concert at the Portland Civic Stadium preforming with BB King , Albert Collins and Bo Didley . I told him then I thought he ,, not Elvis was the King of Rock & Roll . He was very modest in receiving that compliment . I will never forget that moment and that day .

I knew Laura was dead. Didn't know about Juice.

RIP Chuck. Say hi to Elvis and Bill Haley for us.

One of my favorite bands, ELO, did a monster job on Roll Over, Beethoven: Roll Over, Beethoven (Definitive version with lyrics)

and, a higher-energy performance,
Roll Over, Beethoven (Choreography by Madness and Mayhem)

Check out ELO's live CD they did in Australia. Epic.

My Ding-A-Ling became a hit record for Chuck in the 70s but he’d been playing it since the 60s (near the end of this Fillmore show backed by Steve Miller Blues Band)

(1967, MY Ding-A-Ling at 47:01)

and it was a cover of a song from the 1950s

Chuck also recorded this as My Tambourine

“That one guy who played the guitar in that band I can’t remember ...”

I wonder if that’s an offhand reference to Tommy Bolin from Zephyr and Deep Purple.

I’m glad to hear that Juice is still alive and kicking. I must have had her mixed up with another early 1980s pop singer that died. I alway’s liked Juice’s remake of “Angel in the Morning” because it reminded me of Marine Corps boot camp and Reagan’s first term. Actually I believe Juice was more of a country artist that crossed over. Lot of country crossing-over in those early 1980s.

Loved his music. Thought he died years ago.

My personal favorite.

Maybellene, why can’t you be true
Oh Maybellene, why can’t you be true
You’ve started back doin’ the things you used to do
