To support one is to legitimise the other.

Many would disagree, including the legislators from my youth. As I recall, if I had dallied with a girl just under 18 when I was just over 18, that would have been very bad. In contrast, the law said nothing about me dating an 18 y/o when I was 17. The courts eventually ruled that the distinction was sexist, but I disagree. The rules should be at least somewhat different for men and for women, with boys and with girls (but not for teacher/student).

Note: I also very strongly disapprove of any school teacher of any age dating any of his/her students of any age, and in general of professors dating their students regardless of age.

I didn't say there was no difference.

I implied that the difference is already codified in law and to support violating that law is to support violating that law. Nowhere did I say this specific age or that specific age. I said adults and minors and I am fully aware that the law may vary who is legally a minor regarding this topic both by sex and by whatever state one is in. And that through matrimony exceptions may be made by a parent or guardian together with a presiding judge. That's fine. Just ignoring statutory protections because one wants orgasms is not fine. Ever.

I support age of consent laws and harsh penalties for those who chose to violate them. Period. Those laws are there to protect our youth, and our posterity.

Children are not acceptable sexual playthings for adults.
