Disney's live-action adaptation of the classic animated musical could clear $60 million on Friday alone on its way to landing one of the top 10 openings of all time, not accounting for inflation.

Back in a more innocent time, I saw THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS. The local newspaper considered it “safe” for kids as it even had a “sissy” vampire.
But that was then.
Gives new meaning to all those old cartoons in which some character was called “You big SISSY!”
I saw the movie DEATHTRAP not long ago on TCM. That is I watched it up until they sprang the queer kiss on us and off the TV went.
What has been seen cannot be unseen. EYE BLEACH! EYE BLEACH!
“Gayness was a minor character making a few subtle allusions and glances scattered throught a 2 hour movie”
I get your point, however, this is how it gets started with subtle and sneaky references. In the near future though they’ll be in your face shaking it, and, if you disapprove the “problem” is with you.
You can tell romance books are popular by looking at how big the section for them is in used book stores. We have a lot of Mennonites in the area and they seem to particularly like them, as many don’t get their female romance fix by electronic media.
My only point was that the popularity of a live action musical love story isn’t going to be driven by men. No matter the amount of gayness, a tiny unimportant amount or abject homo-erotic plot points, a normal male isn’t going to be pumped for love story musicals.

Adding a gay character to a Disney movie or a bunch of black characters in odd places does not increase the audience. Disney knows that gay and black audiences will not rush out to see the movie. The purpose of these two additions to the movie is for the critics. Disney wants to get past the lily white conservative branding. So they can be accepted in California public schools and have the New York Times give a more favorable rating. Disney knows their bread and butter are the young white girls and their mothers looking for some predictable teenage no core (not hard core, not even soft core) romance.
Thank you silverleaf, from some of the previews posted on line, I gathered as much. Thanks for the confirmation. I still wont go see it, but thats because its not my kind of movie, but I am not going to be hysterical about it either.
I visit Utah often to ski. I have noticed over the years that they have a thriving cottage industry in Mormon films. They are filled with inside humor that pokes good natured fun at the Utah Mormon culture. They seem to be very popular.
This is a model that I believe other parts of the country or communities, with their specific idiosyncrasies could follow.
In time, these small movie production companies could grow to the point that they are able to produce films like Beauty and the Beast and put on massive Broadway shows without the political correctness.
Probably more than half of the tickets were bought before the show opened. I could see Soros buying tickets for all of his Human Rights Commission homonazis comrades...
I kinda figured it was some form of created buzz to draw in the patrons.
But i might add this observation, i looked at many reviews of Passengers and they were very critical of it, hated it with a pasdion, i bought the movie and found it very very good,it had real hetero love in it, so no wonder it was hated by the Hollywood queers.
Reminds me of the “Leo DiCaprio gets raped by a bear” buzz before Revenant came out.
So when are you beginning production? :)
So....I suppose I am doing my part to contribute conservative principles to The Arts in my medium.
Really? I told my kids under no circumstances are we seeing that movie and I am now the ogre. I got the information from Free Republic that there was a gay kiss. Have I screwed over my kids?????
Because the millennial and gen X parents don’t know what’s in it
Typically lefties wouldn’t see it but since its politicized
I like you you’re a fine poster but this is where the problem starts
This is a child oriented film
Inserting homosexuality is propaganda
I do not like that
I don’t like gratuitous queerdom inserting for its own sake period
Game of Thrones or Spartacus which was just eaten up with it
And so forth
A movie about Kim Philby like Another Country
Fine
My mom after my dad died read those western soft erotic romance novels
But purposeful insertion of homosexuality into a children’s film is a whole nother matter
And no offense to you
But the fact that on a conservative forum several folks don’t seem to care and gave Disney their cash anyhow is the most troubling aspect of all
It all started quit harnessing fags or sissies nearly 50 years ago
Now look where we are now with trans crap and bathrooms and abolition of religious and assembly freedom and where homosexuals are now afforded victomhood privilege same as any other non white non Christian group
I would not have gone to see that movie or taken my family simply on principle
You watch it’s the nose in the tent
It’ll explode now
“Have I screwed over my kids?????”
—
Of course not.
Just tell them you were given some incorrect information and let them see the movie.
.
That was your first mistake.
Yeah you screwed your kids if you didn’t let them go because of misinformation about a “gay kiss”
No gay sex, and hardly any hetero kissing either
But the movie will be around for a few weeks
Unless your kids are likely to turn gay because Gaston’s buddy acts like a weak parody of Paul Lind, they should be fine
Opening night at BowTie at the mall was jammed!
