What you have seen in the Netherlands, has been seen across the West, and across the Islamic world.

Formerly peaceful muslim communities have been radicalized.

I would point you to the influence of Saudi Arabia, and their State Religion of Wahabbi islam, as the source of that subversion.

Since they became rich on oil (especially after the 1973 oil price shock), they have spent over $100 billion on a deliberate program to promote their (formerly) extreme fringe doctrines - changing the face of Sunni islam across the world.

They built mosques (most of the mosques in the West) and madrassas, they trained and paid imams, printed the textbooks, and established the advocacy organizations.

Peaceful muslim citizens were lured into sending their children to these nice new mosques for religious education, and language classes (so the kids could talk to Grandma, and would not embarrass them by being unable to perform basic prayers and such). The education (indoctrination) that they got was very different from what previous generations got, and they were groomed by embedded recruiters for the terrorist organizations which the Saudis also (covertly) funded. These Saudi mosques in dozens of countries send a monthly flow of about 1,000 recruits off to wherever the violent jihad happens to be, with more than 100 ready to be suicide bombers.

All of the large Sunni terrorist and subversive organizations adhere to the same (formerly smallest) school of islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), the Hanbali School - just like the Saudis. ISIS, alQueda, Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood, al Shabaab, and Boko Haram all adhere to the Saudi-approved Sharia interpretations. ISIS and al Queda are strict Wahabbis across the the board.

The Wahabbis use very strict rules for interpreting islam, which inevitably lead to the conclusion of mandatory conquest of the whole human race (by virtually any means) to impose islamic dictatorship. Their essential rules are to allow only strict literal, fundamentalist reading (no moral or rational judgement is allowed to vary) of just three specific texts (Quran, Hadith, Sira), and that later verses in the Quran (arbitrarily) abrogate (replace) any earlier ones, where ever they conflict (as they often do).

Since Muhammad became increasingly brutal and totalitarian as he ammassed political and military power, the later verses are consistently more brutal and totalitarian as well. By the time of his poisoning by his successor Abu Bakr, Muhammad was a full-blown megalomaniac, declaring that he had been called to fight until all men accept Allah (submit), and that other religions should not be tolerated at all (his last words reputedly included that there should not be two religions in Arabia. Using Wahabbi rules, you exclude all but the most aggressive and totalitarian possible interpretation of islam. Essentially, it totally co-opts religion and spirituality into a politco-military doctrine of conquest and oppression.

That extreme doctrine (which promotes violence, and overthrow of other legal systems) should be outlawed and uprooted at least as aggressively as Nazism.

Also, be familiar with the doctrine of taqiyyah, by which it is permitted for muslims to deceive non-muslims to protect oneself, or advance the cause of islam. Organizations have been established with the principle purpose of doing just that in the West. I imagine that they have them in the Netherlands, just as we have CAIR in the USA. The Muslim Brotherhood has been the world leaders in organizing such subversive organizations - with initial funding from from Gulf Arabs, later subsidized from fundraising among immigrant communities, and the public treasury (thanks to corrupting politicians). In fact, co-opting politicians and parties (with bribes, ideology, and/or votes) has been among their most successful approaches to misleading the Western public as to their intentions.
