Lots of fun stiff there. I went on a limited hunt the Missile Range allows for African Oryx. Yes, there is a herd of them introduced in 1969 that has grown huge.
Time stopped on the range when in WWII the Army took it over for testing saying they would return it after the war.
After they blew up the A-bomb there, they decided they couldn’t give it back. So it’s like time stopped there in 1945.

It’s like being in the Twilight Zone. You bounce along down dirt roads in this immense desert. You are on roads traveled by Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. You find farm houses and corrals form another era that they tell you not to go in. Then maybe you find an old F-100 Super Sabre crashed down in a ravine basically intact, or large sized rocket fuselage wreck laying on the ground from the 50s. Then you come around another corner and see a giant billboard sized sign, but with a large bullseye on it. And scattered all around this nutty place are these large African plains antelopes.

When you leave the base, you are back in normal modern New Mexico...whatever THAT is.
