ABC is casting and prepping Battle Of The Network Stars, a reboot of the networks 1970s and 80s competition series that pitted teams of stars from different TV networks. ABC ran all 19 of the original series, and plans to make the redo, if it happens, as a summer event series.

The original series turns-up on ESPN Classic too (not in HD on my system)
I was too young to appreciate that aspect. :0
“If they make it like ninja warrior with these pompous stars getting pummeled unmercifully I might watch.”
How about arming the celebrities with machine guns with real bullets, would that work too?
I think the one they had portraying Adrienne Barbeau was a bit undersized.
I remembered that and yes, I recall he was pissed about something, could have been an act.
See post 28 it has the video you mentioned.
Does this guy look familiar?

Won’t work this time for a bunch of reasons.
1) Network TV has stars? I defy you to name six of them for me. Back in the day most of the people knew who most of the stars were, even if they didn’t watch their shows. Today for the most part they don’t know, and they’re not watching.
2) The networks are fighting over pieces of an infinitely smaller pie. I have my doubts that the others are going to allow their talent to work on a show that would boost ABC’s numbers, even for one hour per week.
3) Like you said, politically correct. They’ll be afraid of Feminist blowback over T&A (even though that was proven to draw viewers). 90lb. women will insist on wrestling former NFL players, etc.
Looks like Bob Loblaw with a mullet :)
They don’t exactly make them like Lynda anymore.
Catherine Bach?
