"During his much-anticipated Friday morning speech at CPAC, President Donald Trump found common ground with democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Ya know, Bernie is right on one issue trade, Trump said to a crowd of excited conservatives. While there wasnt a grumble in the room, at least not a noticeable one there should have been.
On his radio program Friday, Mark Levin took time to explain the lunacy of Trumps statement and why conservatives need to differentiate themselves from this phony, so-called nationalist-populist movement."
Trump is looking to triangulate Bernie voters. What’s wrong with that?
“Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains”. - Thomas Jefferson.
Well this is what this stuff is all about:
Bernie is a communist....Hillary and Barky are Islamic...The GOPe are Globalists and Trump Supporters and President Trump are Patriots and the media doesn’t know who the hell they are...
Thanks Mark we’ll take it from here. Thanks for all your heavy lifting early on.
I get that, in theory, free trade is beneficial and reduces prices. But the one thing the free traders have not been able to do or explain is how to bring good jobs back to the small towns of Middle America. Way too many towns have turned into drug-riddled Welfare dependencies where the only good jobs are government jobs. Factories moving to Mexico caused that. I’m not saying that the companies moving the factories are evil or made an irrational choice, but the end result was generations without jobs, living off Welfare and turning to drugs. What is the answer for these people? Screaming that Bernie Sanders is a Communist isn’t an answer.
When the Senate voted back in the Bush days on the government’s bill to bring in tons of migrant workers, Bernie Sanders voted against it. I remember writing him a letter thanking him for his vote. He replied that the law would have deprived young Vermonters of their jobs.
Even a stopped clock is right once in a while.

Hey Mark? It’s time to retire. We’ve had a belly full of free trade for 40 years now. It doesn’t work for the middle or lower classes and it weakens our ability to make war. No amount of old man blather from you will change that.
Since when is Mark Levin the expert on the trade issue? I listened to him from 2002-2016, and once every few months he’d say something about the cost of products going down if they’re made abroad, but that’s it.
Trade is not a Constitutional issue.
By the Constitution, the Federal government has control over trade. Period, full stop.
Trade is not a “conservative” or “progressive” issue.
It is a straight up economic issue.
Protectionist trade policies have worked very well for the United States in the past.
Free Trade policies have worked very well for the United States in the past.
It depends upon the times and the agreements, and how they are implemented.
It took me a while to understand this, but trade is not a Constitutional issue.
“Free Trade!” = Globalism.
“Fair Trade.” = American Workers First!
Free trade will lead to socialism.
Pressure on workers to get “re-educated, re-trained” will cost them money, leading to pressure to socialize all education, including higher education, and everyone will be paying for higher education, and thus more socialism.
The workers who can’t find decent-paying work, will vote for those who will give them $15/hr wages and higher, leading to either wage inflation or more robots or a mix of both. With enough people out of work, there will be people voting for a universal guaranteed income (even if you don’t work ever), and thus more socialism.
Too many Walmart workers with low wages and crap jobs (compared to manufacturing) ends up creating more people on welfare, and thus again, more socialism.
Pretty much all branches on the “tree” of globalism lead to the root, which is socialism. And all of the globalism, free-trade, and socialism will lead to destruction of culture (including American culture in values), abandonment of the Republic and values in favor of more “international values”, e.g. disarmament, free speech, etc.
> “Trump is looking to triangulate Bernie voters. Whats wrong with that?”
Nothing. Even a communist idiot can have a valid point or two.
Levin is struggling to stay relevant. It’s been obvious he feeds at the dwindling #NeverTrump dollar trough unless the Saudis are somehow behind flooding it with new funds.
Levin should retire and spend his days walking his dogs.
I have to laugh watching “True Conservatives” defend the system of Managed Trade created after World War 2 by European Socialists and American “New Dealers”.
We haven’t ever had “Free Trade”
Cumulus needs to trash-can Levin and put the very funny and talented Chris Plante (WMAL WashDC) in his place. Pull the plug on Glenn Beck too. Between the two of them, that’s six hours of unlistenable radio.
Hey Levin: It’s the jobs stupid.
I like Mark but sometimes he sounds like a general reading a military handbook in the middle of a fire fight. Let’s secure the beach head before we start shooting at one another. Trump may not be right on this issue but he has common sense.
Free Traitor Levin has it backwards. Marx was a Free Trader and promoted the theory heavily. A Marxist would never be a protectionist like Trump and his fellow nationalists.
Free Trade increases the profit margin of the middle men, it doesn’t lower the price to the consumer.
Mark is a mean little LiberTARDian.
