They didn't have Social Security numbers in the 1800s. The guy from Connecticut whose Social Security may have been one of several that Obama has used was born in 1890. Social Security started on August 14, 1935. Lots of people born in the 1890s had Social Security numbers.

My grandmother, who was born in 1894, had a social security number and collected social security after her retirement. She died when she was 94.
