Agree, but irrelevant ? The RNC just hauled in 20 million dollars in fundraising in January.

I am sure it is because of Trump.

It’s not so much that they’ve failed but that they’ve refused.

I am beginning to lose my patience with them, but legislative activity is by nature, slow moving.

Ryan thinks he’ll somehow inherit the Presidency, eventually, by being Speaker of the House. He’s avoiding doing anything that might hurt his chances down the line. He needs removed.

If it could have been done with a wave of the hand, then President Trump would have replaced them already.

He'd have to get past Pence first. And I don't see that happening.

I’d suggest taking a deep breath. President Trump was sworn in only one month ago. Ryan and McConnell are not the ideal folks to have there, but they are moving rapidly by Congressional standards. We want the US to “extreme vet” the folks coming into the country; Congress “extreme vets” people nominated for high office.

What did you expect? And how realistic is that?

“Shame on them!!!! They both have had more then ample time to get things moving rapidly through congress...”

‘ample time’ = 8 LONG YEARS!

I wasn't aware that Trump has yet submitted any draft legislation to Congress.

The President doesn't draft legislation, congress does. He can create an agenda and work with congress to do it, but if they won't move then none will happen. Which is what we have now. The President has a series of stated policy goals that would need legislation to be enacted. Building the wall, infrastructure, tax cuts, repeal Obamacare. Which ones has congress even started on? For real, not the hand wringing Obamacare agonizing while they stall and do nothing. Real action?

The answer: none.

I am no fan of either, but take a deep breath. The executive order flurry is over and now the big goals take legislation (written laws) so it’s far more complicated.

Nothing happens quickly on the hill and it has been that way forever. Bills go through committee and then they come out to the floor for a vote and it’s on to the senate committee - etc. etc.

It is logistically impossible for the congress to work as quickly as Trump did in his first month. This is why they should have had the bills already written and even then it would be a process because everyone sticks their fingers in it.

Presidents routinely submit proposed legislation to Congress. Members of Congress routinely introduce bills on behalf of the administration (and other outside groups, for that matter). I expect that Trump will get around to this once he has his cabinet and subcabinet in place. In fact, I would imagine that his team is already working with people on the Hill to get this done. And of course, people on the Hill have their own proposals, and they are presumably trying to get Trump to adopt them as his own.

But if you are unwilling to wait for that process to develop, and would prefer for Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to define Trump's agenda for him, be my guest.

The House successfully voted to repeal Obamacare 6X during the Obama administration despite knowing Obama would repeal them. Where are those 6 bills? They have already been through the process you described. Why aren't they already on Trump's desk?

What has Trump requested that they haven’t done?

Repeal Obamacare.

The House voted six times on bills to repeal Obamacare during Obama's administration. Where are those six bills? Pick the best one and get it on Obama's desk say this afternoon.

And what about tax cuts? What are they waiting for?

Does Trump want them to repeal Oamacare before he has a replacement ready. I don’t get that impression from Trump’s commets.

Trump has already gutted the mandate with an eXecutive order on day one.

They voted to repeal Obamacare - not replace it. Trump has said he would replace Obamacare and that is a bill that impacts 1/6th of our economy (healthcare).

Because Obamacare became law and went into effect there are now millions of people insured through it. Simply repealing it up would probably leave millions without insurance - a PR nightmare of all PR nightmares.

Trump correctly said it had to be repealed and replaced at the same time. The bills you reference from the house GOP repealed Obamacare, but I don’t believe they addressed people already in the program. We all support getting rid of Obamacare because it sucks. However, Trump is taking the long view and he wants to replace it with something that works (his words) that include common-sense market reforms to lower costs.

I do agree with you that it is disappointing that the GOP was not ready with something right out of the gate for Trump to sign.
