Amature video shot today close to the dam.
Thought the California leadership said that the water was going down and the situation is more under control? Did I misunderstand or are they lying?
He just said “my phone is tied to a stick” .. lol
It doesn’t look any better than it did yesterday.
It’s like something out of an Irwin Allen movie. God have mercy. This will not end well.
This may not end very well.
WHO’S RUNNING THIS DAM? THEY WERE TOO STUPID TO REALIZE THEY NEEDED A CONTROLLED RELEASE OF WATER IN ANTICIPATION OF THIS??
+1
Perhaps because the video is from yesterday?
They are probably all high
Perhaps the were all off at the monthly California DWR Diversity and Inclusiveness Retreat, which (as you may know) lasts three weeks.
Surely someone has a drone that can provide a better point of view.
Yup, we know this. Checking in from Evac Central. We stayed put as our property is level with the dam dam. We have the whole town to ourselves! They had been releasing water but problems with the spillway lead to a slowdown in release. Last storm was a warm storm, melting snow upstream. Filled the reservoir. Forced to use emergency spillway. Erosion crept up toward emergency spillway which if breached would have had 30 ft of lake level empty into the Feather River...not good. Fixing Emergency Spillway now. Plugging holes with rip-rap boulders, etc...Throwing in ord kitchen sinks and DeSotos. No word on when folks can return. They want to empty the lake level by 50 feet. Big Storm coming in on Wednesday. Not Good.
We are staying put.

I think you misunderstood. At no point did they ever say that the human evacuations were being reversed, or that the situation is not very serious.
They did say that the water levels have declined a bit, such the emergency spillway is not being further eroded, but that is only so until the next big rainstorm or warm day with heavy snowmelt occurs.
The situation is still very concerning and there is not a good medium-term solution in place at all, and the authorities have not said otherwise. So, no, they are not lying.
This may not end very well.
Yep. Water usually wins over dirt.
News radio just said the water level is down and water is no longer flowing over the emergency spillway.
Although often referred to as the emergency spillway it is officially called the auxiliary spillway.
What a way to end a drought.
