Another happy ending

Hope you're right. But remember, the perp can often later become the "victim," especially with a good lawyer. What are the odds that, within a short period of time the one-armed bandit sues the seller.

Unfortunately, we will probably get to spend mega bucks on medical expenses for the thief. Next time, take the head.

Yep it could happen.

If I recall correctly, the attackers of Berhard Goetz (sp?) successfully sued him into financial ruin, over their injuries sustained due to their own bad sad life choices.

Dunno.

I am waiting to see if the cops arrest the guy who was robbed or if he just gets sued out existance.

ON the plus side, at least the media didn’t call the thief the victim...

Year old story.

Has his arm grown back yet?

Never mind. A quick google search informs me that surgeons were able to reattach it. I'm sure his platinum-plan health insurance paid for this. Oh, wait. You mean we paid for it? Thought so. Meanwhile, Mr. Pierre was charged with attempted murder. I can't find the outcome of this case.

Can he still be charged with armed robbery?

It also sadly brings to mind the Central Park Jogger.

What happened in that case is as about as disgusting and vile as anything that can happen in a (supposedly) civil society. Talk about perversion of justice. Google it - what transpired in subsequent years will make you physically sick.

The driver is going to be in huge legal trouble. You can't go and run a thief down if you are no longer in danger (except in Texas where you might be required to).

Sadly the driver was in no danger at the point he ran over the robber.

There’s probably a small army of lawyers standing in line outside the robber’s home.

The robbery victim is going to be in big trouble. You and I may like the street justice meted out, but the standard the cops use is “did you fear for your life,” and being able to drive away means you were out of the situation until you decided to do a U-turn and put yourself back in it.

A number of years back, a robber held a guy up in his driveway, and the guy said, “Just a minute. I’ll go inside and get some money.” The stupid robber played along, and the guy instead came out and killed the guy. The intended victim was in trouble because he was inside and out of the situation and came back. I’m not saying I like it, but the driver is probably in trouble, too.
