Actually it is that easy. We have to vet all the folks (thousands) over there that we (Military and Intel) work with or give access to our bases. It is the same issues for them; you interview them, they give you a history, a list of names, addresses, birth date, documents, place, etc. Investigators check them out through our records, biometrics, local government, national government, intelligence and law enforcement/security agencies, NGAs, etc. If their story can’t be verified, they don’t pass.
I was aware of that via family .. but you’re there where all the possible documentation might be available.
HERE, it will be different. There will be no place to go to in order to get all the same type of records.
I’m sure the Syrian Christians are desperate to get out of there; but it’s already been revealed that jihadis have made plans to infiltrate these families in order to get to the USA .. where there is no possible way to determine if they are hostile to us. Lying is not a sin to them.
