William Talman (who portrayed D.A. Burger) said that Burger would have considered his losses to PM as "wins", because in the end he would not have wanted to convict the wrong people.
The undercover cop played by Connors carried a small revolver in the small of his back. The bad guys never found it when they frisked him.
I just watched episode 1. I recognized a line that probably appears in most of the episodes: "In all the excitement, one man got away."
I grew up in Tarzana. It has been very much a bedroom community of the entertainment industry. Pretty Jewish, too.
Come to think of it, when I saw Mr. Connors in Malibu, he was playing a game of checkers. Don’t know why I said “chess.”
I liked California much better back in those days.
Wow. I had no idea. May he rest in peace...
Don’t forget about the cut brake lines!
I think if he had married Peggy, things would be different today.
So in other words, he started off in season 1 as a conservative but by Season3 he was a brain dead liberal...
FWIW I’m no drummer but it might have been the High Hat - small cymbals stacked on a foot pedal.
If I’m remembering the sound you’re mentioning ......
Technically >>operated<< by the foot pedal.
Some years ago I saw a documentary that featured him a bit. During his prime money-making years, he still resided in his modest home in a quiet neighborhood, and kept his wife.
Only in a government job could Berger stay on despite blowing high profile and costly cases on a routine basis.
At least Berger wasn’t a power mad nut with axes to grind.
The casting on Perry Mason could have been this.
Actually William Hopper, who played Paul Drake was considered for Perry Mason and Raymond Burr for Paul Drake.
In the end they switched them.
I couldn’t see PM being successful with Hopper and Burr in opposite roles.
