I think its funny they abandoned use of Roman numerals for last years super bowl. So it was printed out as Super Bowl 50 instead of Super Bowl L. Now they are back to Roman numerals, and it is Super Bowl LI.
It was also odd that last year they talked of the NFL’s “golden season” as if Super Bowl 50 marked the 50th anniversary of the NFL. But the NFL is almost 100 years old, and will celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2020. Its like the NFL just ignores its rich history prior to the Super Bowl era.
It would be as if baseball just ignored the era of Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb and Walter Johnson, the way the NFL ignores its early history.
Is anyone watching the Pro Bowl on Sunday? Why was it moved from Hawaii to Florida this year? BTW, the NHL All Star weekend in Los Angeles is on that weekend as well.
We had luxury sports cars ready to transport both teams' fans to the game. Our promotional banner, slogan, & website was GO TO L!.
And there would have been no Super Bowel without the AFL, just NFL Championship Game.
It was the clash with the upstart AFL that set the stage for the now over-hyped game.
Dang, am I really old enough to remember the first Superball? Still remember the Johnny Unitas and Raymond Berry combo.
Great story about Berry catching Unitas throws in a fully dark stadium. Look it up.
