Probably not.

I agree that it is probably not a big concern today but given how fast imaging technology is improving, fingerprints and retinas can probably be accurately imaged from meters in the not too distant future.

Unless the camera is inches away and has time to focus. Then those ridges and whorls and loops could find their way into a database ...

Without going into details, the article said the researchers were able to image usable fingerprints from several meters.

Most of the newest smartphone cameras have this kind of feature, which could conceivably be used to focus on fingerprints:
