Alzado freely admitted that he *chose* to use steroids.
The last couple of years before he died he spoke out against steroid use.
That was a bear the NFL didn’t want to wrestle so he got little support for his efforts from the league.

I can’t imagine anyone purposely putting themselves through that for fame and fortune because both are fleeting things.

His choice and he paid the price.

Yes. Agree on all counts.

I can have sympathy for someone who has had their lived destroyed by drugs, alcohol, or steroids, but there is a major element of personal responsibility that has to be considered.

I understand someone who is in pain who gets addicted to painkillers, and in the sports world, this is a problem.

I view the damage done by steroids or recreational drugs in quite a different way.
