You will be free to not take that chance all you want. I think I’ll just have to learn to live with the fear personally as will millions and millions and millions of other Americans.
This is exactly what has stopped me from going the SBR/Silencer route.
This guys swears these spooks will visit you to “check up” on your NFA item and if it’s not there you’d better have a good lawyer.
I’ve had a licensed SilencerCo Osprey since 2013 for my Springfield XDm. ATF has never shown up at my house.
It’s a myth.
BAZOOKAS!
You forgot the Bazookas!
"Silencer" is the term used on Hiram Maxim's patent here:
So, yes, the proper term is "silencer".
You’ve read it I suppose?
“They are NOT silencers. They are sound suppressors”
Hiram Maxim named them silencers. That’s what he got his product named in the patent. But what did he know over modern shooting sports priggery?
How do you like it on the XDM?
It’s a 9 right?
The ATF is too busy running stings on companies like mine. A while back they sent some weirdo to my machine shop asking if he could “rent” my machines to finish some 80% lowers. I told him hell no. A few days later here comes our trusty ATF agents announcing “we heard you’re making guns here.” I told them they are trespassing and unless they have a warrant they are not allowed in my shop. It turns out nearly every machine shop had the same visit.
“All i learned about guns I learned from TV.”
Like the “silent” silencer. “Dum Dum Cop Killer bullets.” “Teflon coated bullets.” All bogus.
Rocks, Baseball bats, and 60mph SUVs all have silencers or mufflers.
People murder people! People are the problem!
Liberals just want to control everyone EXCEPT the bad guys.
(yeah, I know, "preaching to the choir")
Good job! Tell those bums to fo and die!
I have two ATF Form 4 (suppressor) & a Form 1 (SBR) stamps and have never been asked for verification at the 3 different ranges I use them on...
Just read a letter to the editor/ opinion column by anti gun Chicago Tribune columnist Stephen Chapman. He realizes Suppressors don’t make the sound of a gunshot a “Pffffft.” He admitted they are never ever used in crime, and be wrote that they are no big deal.
Since they aren’t used in crimes, wonder what his opinion of .50 BMG is? Big difference, of course.
EXCELLENT!!! I get so tired of the “suppressor, not silencer” crowd. Oh, you are so much better than me because you use a fancier word! Whatever.
Go back and reread the article. They’re talking about taking them off the NFA list entirely. No more ATF involvement whatsoever.
