has put them in a position along with the Media and their congressional leaders that they are now “ the sky is falling” credible.

Perversely, that’s part of the value of Trump: having led a rather visceral & public life outside the sociopolitical professional-elite, there’s little between what’s known that he’s done & what he knows he’s done that’s capable of terminal embarrassment. His “embarrassments” are well-known: everything that goes with skating the suspicious edges of his professional involvement with (in no particular order) major beauty pageants, professional wrestling, gambling, hotels, alcohol sales, supermodel relationships, etc - we don’t know that he’s crossed the line on any of it, but he’s been close enough to that line long enough that any transgressions likely won’t bother him. From that point, Trump himself knows exactly how far he _did_ go, and if he never went too far then he knows it and knows any reports thereof are BS.
Unlike numerous crashed-and-burned right wingers, Trump is comfortable with whatever there may be of his dark side. Hence, no revelations will dissuade him; there is no blackmail material.
