Someday when I have at least my old 65 Willys roadworthy which I hope to by spring, I’d like to teach my wife how to drive a manual.

I’d take it to a large lot, put it in low range to start and see what happens.

An ice chest/cooler will substitute nicely for the cardboard box you’ll need to collect up the parts she’ll deposit on the pavement.

I taught all of my kids how to drive a manual car without ever leaving our driveway.

I just had them keep going forward then reverse without the brakes for about an hour.

Once they realize that they don’t need the brake pedal, they drive confidently.
