Trump has surrounded himself with sound-minded people in his cabinet and we have non-McCains in Congress who will hopefully give us a balanced view toward Russia. We should neither kow-tow nor revert back to Cold-War playground bully talk.
So long as Trump’s primary focus is “Make America Great Again” (FROM THE INSIDE) — then we will be strong with regard to whatever comes at us from the outside.
As I said above, it’s up to the Russian people to learn from their history and to recover what is beautiful and great about their country. Our most powerful diplomatic tool is how we as a nation conduct ourselves. And the election of Trump was a powerful statement — not because of the supposed new tone it sets with regard to our relationship with them, but because of how it manifested the inner strength of OUR people to live up to OUR principles — which their government constantly puts under question as fraudulent and hypocritical.
Very well said.
