Thoughts?
They pretty much have to. He hasn’t thrown a pass under a real regular season game conditions in over a year. They need to know if he can still function, should they need him in the playoffs. And, if they entertain trade offers, they have to have something to show.
I feel really, really bad for Romo. As a passer, he will go down as one of the greatest never to play in a Super Bowl, along side people like John Brodie. But he just has bad luck.
If you look at Dallas, they just don’t turn the ball over. I only looked at this the other day, but it’s not just on offense: on special teams, I think they only have one turnover all year, have no missed xtra points, no blocked FGs or punts, no KO or punt returns for TDs. Dak has four INTS, two of them in one game vs. 23 TD passes. These are championship numbers.
Then, shockingly, Dallas I think leads the NFL in sacks in December!! They are now something like 5th in the league in sacks-—and no one knows anyone on their D-line.
How much of all this is Romo? Who knows. All I know is, there has been a change in the team, and Dak is a huge part of it.
