I drove for Trailways for two years and saw what you are referring to all the time. I’d have older black people on the bus that were model citizens. Many old enough to have experienced firsthand the kind of persecution that I’ve only read about. Then I’d have younger bunch that did their very best to be loud, obscene and disrespectful of everyone. I had a sweet old lady spend most of her time on her ride with her face in her hands obviously trying to shut it all out. I made a point of helping her with her bags at the end of the trip and chatting with her. She was a retired school teacher. Her age would have put her education and job hunting in an era when it took a black woman with incredibly determination and outright courage to achieve what she had. It must have broken her heart to see her gains squndered.
Good to hear. I don’t have kids, but I think it has to be difficult to raise any kid nowadays. It seems like society at large conspires against you...but you sound like you have the right approach to me.

I’ve been a freeper for a long time...I’ve always believed we had upstanding people here except there are a number of juvenile anti Christian people that love to post pics of naked women, even though I suspect FR is made up of at least 50% women and its very distasteful for us...

Secular purist have been working tirelessly in this country for 60 years to totally remove Christianity from the public face of America.
In removing Christianity from America the atheist have removed moral teaching from our younger generations. Without Christianity to teach the value of human life the younger generations have become the most self centered people to ever walk the face of the Earth.
If the ultimate value is one's self obviously anyone who offends you is worthy of death.
In the past our children were taught that God was the ultimate value and man being created in his image was second only to God in value. To kill another man was to offend God and to face his ultimate justice.

You’re right, you’d be in trouble in CA! We’ve lost a lot of rights recently. Open carry of long guns. Then restrictions on adjustable stocks, pistol grips, heat shields, magazines, you name it they’re placing tougher restrictions. Doesn’t stop the gang bangers and criminals. NRA is trying to reverse these idiotic restrictions. I envy you guys in other free states.

Their names were released tonight: they are Frankie Archuleta and Jesse Archuleta. (I don't know how exactly they're related, though I'd guess that they are relatives rather than two acquaintances who happen to share a name.) I haven't seen any pictures of them yet, though I'd guess that they weren't the first guesses of most people who ventured guesses.
I've noticed that more and more people, especially younger people, seem to lack what I call an "F-word filter." Maybe they wouldn't use the word in front of their parents, but maybe they would. Those who lack this "filter" easily use it in public while speaking loud enough for strangers like me to overhear.
Even this very site is noticeably filthier than it used to be: what I'll just call the "S-word" is posted liberally, probably every day. I hardly read every thread, I don't go searching for the word, I don't necessarily read the threads that are most likely to be the angriest ones--and yet I find the word posted regularly.
Inasmuch as the S-word is no longer censored, and indeed liberally used on "regular" TV, I think that there's a qualitative difference between it and the F-word.
They never used to say "damn" or "Hell" on TV either, but that changed decades ago. Also, some terms that were formerly tolerated on TV are now not ever used.

For the most part, free speech is tolerated on this forum, except when it represents deliberate antagonism, things such as overt racism, diametrically opposed politics, etc.
A few sexy photos posted by healthy heterosexual males is certainly nothing that is (or should be) censored, IMHO. Images containing nudity certainly aren't allowed, but that doesn't mean the forum has to abide by some kind of strident "church lady" concept of propriety.

I acknowledge some difference in the media, but I expect more from the members here anyway. Besides, I expect any difference in the media to be gone fairly soon, sooner than we once might have expected.
Even some "respectable" mainstream news sources (like one of the premier British newspapers) use the F-word freely--mostly in quotations, I think, but the same sources would've used some filtering not long ago. I notice in part because occasionally people excerpt those sources while starting threads here, and they don't notice (or maybe don't care) that their sources use that word.

The news story behind this thread reminds me that not a few current mainstream songs contain certain words that we were just discussing. There is one current song that has a "clean" version, which removes an instance of "damned"--the word is used not to refer to literal damnation but in a way that echoes what some people call swearing. By now this version seems almost old-fashioned.
