You should know betrter than most that the outcome in court is whatever the judge wants.

I had the same impression you did in Bush v. Gore (Gore's case and argument was a joke), but the Supreme Court of Florida cherry-picked law to give the result it wanted. Courts are there to break the law, just as much as to uphold it. It's all outcome driven.

I once asked an 80 year old lawyer about the law - wanted to know if XXX violated the law and if I’d have a solid case in court. He told me the only way to find out was to go to court and see how the judge ruled because ‘the law was whatever a judge said it was on a given day’.

Cynical, but 20 years later have passed and I’ve seen no sign he was wrong.
