What happens if no presidential candidate gets 270 Electoral votes?
If no candidate receives a majority of Electoral votes, the House of Representatives elects the President from the 3 Presidential candidates who received the most Electoral votes. Each state delegation has one vote. The Senate would elect the Vice President from the 2 Vice Presidential candidates with the most Electoral votes. Each Senator would cast one vote for Vice President. If the House of Representatives fails to elect a President by Inauguration Day, the Vice-President Elect serves as acting President until the deadlock is resolved in the House.
The Constitution only requires that a candidate have 1 more vote than the other candidate. The 270 number is merely a point of no challenge that the media and viewers use to measure the final moment when the race is over.....
The constitution does not require a 270 minimum to secure the election. Congress only steps in to settle an electoral tie.
Take your scenario, and consider what happens if some of Hillary’s electors, and a couple of Trump’s electors go “faithless” and vote for a third candidate, a compromise who both House Dems and RINO NeverTrumpers can agree to.
That does not surprise me. You might inform the ones running the US Government (USG) .gov website.
If political push comes to shove, we may have a very bad surprise outcome in this.
My main reason for posting is for all of us who can write, voice or make phone calls to raise awareness that this is not over yet, to do so. And especially those who pray to our Father via His son Jesus in line with the Holy Spirit, with understanding and in the spirit, to not stop on this matter until late January 20th, 2017 or until the individual knows the prayer is heard and therefore answered per the NT scripture.
