The construction of a controversial £116million life-size replica of the Titanic began in China yesterday.
A keel-laying ceremony and fireworks marked the start of work in the southwestern Sichuan province.
The replica plans sparked controversy when it was announced the design would include a simulation of the iceberg crash that sank the original ship in the Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912. Some 1,500 people died in the disaster.

Why not? Anything they make in China isn’t worth a %%%% and doesn’t work. Why not build a ship that doesn’t sail?
I read last year that there actually was a working new Titanic, ready to receive passengers.
Reminds me of how the Left is feeling these days...
I seen articles about some Australian billionaire interested in an actual working replica but I do not believe the idea has advanced beyond the blueprint stages.
No ticky, no shirty

In 1999 I was in Sag Harbor and bought a shirt emblazoned with;
“Titanic, 1912, Swim Team”.
When I would wear it some people would cringe to which I responded:
“Too Soon?”
Loved that T-Shirt and going back next year to get a few more...
Here is a better simulation of the Titanic. Updated a bit.
