No, but it is even more useless to you than Canadian politics.
The BJP has also won a few local body elections since demonetization, so one can’t read too much into it ... yet. Local body polls have a different dynamic and cadre-based parties like the BJP (and the Communists) have usually done better than parties that have no core ideology (like the Congress). As long as the Congress is in the sorry state it is in, the BJP will have little to worry about.
