Claiming that Conway is “outside,” and that the NYT story isn’t accurate. They’re trying to stick to their story, no matter what everyone’s lying eyes see.

Joe Scarborough today cheerfully sticks with his “inner circle” sources of yesterday, on the subject of Kellyanne.

Joe held up two papers this morning that covered the Conway story. He reports that Conway “dictated” her side of the story to the NYT and they printed it as she dictated it. No push back, evidently.

Joe then mentioned Politico who wrote the same story that Joe reported on his own yesterday, but through their own sources. He added that it was Politico that got it exactly right. Not the NYT.

Joe confirmed today that it was the job of “Press Secretary” that Kellyanne was offered. Conway told the NYT that she wanted instead to stay in New York and head up some outside organization.

I heard her myself a few days ago, maybe on Meet the Press, when she was asked about her own job in a Trump administration. She said, yes, she had been offered a position and replied “We’ll see... but I am here to talk about ......”. She would say nothing further on that subject.

Obviously, she had reservations of some kind. To say publicly of a job offer from the 46th President of the United States, “We’ll see”, tells us Kellyanne was either negotiating for something different, or was truly not able to make a move to DC, or was unhappy with that position. Period.

Joe said it had been confirmed yesterday that Conway is not in the inner circle and she did go rogue on Romney. He said “she is out of the room when things happen”. He also added that Trump is a loyalist to Conway, but that Conway did make an error and did not help herself over the past several days.

She went silent yesterday, noticeably. I think we all noticed that. We learn, however, that she huddled with the NYT to say that she was not going to be staying with Trump.

Today we know she is out. She is not going to DC. Add it all together and Joe may have gotten it exactly right.

Joe is not going to misquote inner circle sources, or make up something and attribute it to them, and blow up forever the gift of having their ear and having a relationship he will want for the future, throughout a Trump presidency.

I think it is inaccurate to defend the NYT as the truth teller. Chances are the Times let Kellyanne hang herself and already knew that she was no longer among the inner circle players, as they move on to bigger things like foreign policy, domestic policy, and transitioning to fill big jobs and big names.

I despise MSNBC and deplore the O’Reilly-level of arrogance that Scarborough displays, but I am a hard news addict and Joe’s got three hours of it every day. TRUMP watches faithfully, himself.

FOX morning programming is totally unserious, with unserious and giddy hosts and does not meet the bar for hard news because of it.
