When I was working as an airline pilot, often wed get a little person visiting the cockpit (or, if you must, the politically correct flight deck) between flights. They were almost always the most bedazzled by the seemingly endless array of dials and gauges and switches and controls and meters and such. I remember one small fry who stared for a good three minutes and then waved his arms at all the stuff, and solemnly asked, Do you actually know what each of these does?
Jerk probably read it in the media.
Those dials are there to spin wildly so the passengers know when to scream.
As a retired Air Traffic Controller.....
They are not doing Shit without my control instructions.
soft in the head. been driving the truck too many years.
Pilots today are strictly for backup to the systems in the aircraft. A passenger plane can take off and fly to it’s destination, hitting all the way points and execute a perfect landing without the assistance of a pilot. the aircraft after landing can also taxi to the proper terminal in order to offload the passengers.
Pilots only exist in case of a failure in one of the automated systems and these systems have multiple backups in that eventuality.
Flying an aircraft is not difficult nor is taking one off. It is the landing which presents the greatest challenge. I personally learned to fly and soloed after 15 hrs of flight time (I owned a Piper PA28 180). It’s really not a big deal and the most important thing is to respect the aircraft and stay well ahead of it while in the air.
Well you are right and wrong. Essentially you guys work for the pilots.
Here's what I think...hehe
Go ahead and fly on a big one without ATC. See how well you fair
Yeah, I hit the wrong link... sorry
Push back
Yeah, I hit the wrong link... sorry
Not saying ATC doesn’t provide a valuable service, just that you don’t make the rules and can only offer suggestions to a pilot. The rules around certain airspace are not the result of ATC.
Why bother.
Getting into a pissing contest with strangers on Facebook is just senseless.
Getting sucked into similar bashing sessions on FR are just as useless.
I remember when the comments were funny. Not so much lately.
In olden days, some York County, PA folks had their own word for chutzpah, or cheek, or nerve; it was CRUST. I heard my mother use it often. This blowhard pilot really has it. I was even more saddened by the FB commenters who swooned over him, and egged him on!
“The rules around certain airspace are not the result of ATC.”
Yes they are.
I help write them.
Benefits to themselves, mostly.
Has he every been in a Turkish bath house?
Yeah, it got stuck in front of my face and I push back hard if I have the time. No more retreat, they have already gotten away with far too much. A few minutes of push back and they run.
If we wanted to read Facebook we’d go there.
This is just more of your anti-Trump crap threads.
Whoa, watch your mouth punk
