Normally I would go to my only relative I talk to in the area, my cousin, but he's down in Williamsburg on vacation. So I am home alone, made a modest Thanksgiving dinner with a New Braunsfels smoked chicken (yum!), mashed potatoes, dressing and peas. I had a co-worker invite me over to his house if I wanted to, but I politely declined - I like the guy, he is a fellow Trump supporter in my department. But I am really not alone. I have all my FReeper buds keeping me company this holiday. And for that I give thanks.
That warms my heart. You must have wonderful memories of those friends and family, as I do have of mine.
In everyone’s life there is the possibility of having to spend Thanksgiving alone.
I’ll keep your upbeat attitude in mind when it happens to me.
Alone here too.
My parents, one brother, my wife and one daughter are all deceased. One sister is in Belgrade on vacation and my other siblings are too far away.
I had a pound of shrimp for dinner but it was not all that good. I later heated up some day old pizza and it was surprisingly delicious.
I do have fond memories of when we would all be together at Christmas or Thanksgiving. Daddy would put the leaf in the middle of the table and all the adults would eat at the table and the kids in the living room.
Mother and one or two sisters would prepare a feast, a delicious one too. Great times. Maybe my daughter and her family will come for Christmas.
I just tell any such libs I encounter to please, don’t change. Drives them nutz.
Circumstances put me in the same boat as you, db.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Prayers for a full recovery. Sometimes a simple meal puts it all into perspective to be truly thankful for our most elemental of blessings.
Happy Thanksgiving!
We are just having a quiet Thanksgiving with T.V dinners (Hungryman), banana cream pie. Our five dogs and five cats are having canned fresh salmon on Eagle dry dogfood and a scoop of French Vanilla Ice Cream w banana cream pie for dessert.
After the Trump victory we feel at this moment in time very thankful and at peace, thanks be to God.
And to you, FRiend. And a hearty thumbs-up to your tagline.
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
That sounds like a fine evening to me.
Just my husband and me this year. Nice and quiet after a crazy year!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!!!
I spent the day alone as well. Except for two dogs I’m baby sitting. I was suppose to head over the mountains but a huge snow storm is blowing in. It’s been quite nice and peaceful. I will eat my usual bachelor chow but came prepared by saving a bottle of Zubrowka I saved from my last trip to Poland.
And to you! Giving thanks that I don’t have to spend the next 4-8 years protesting another Clinton presidency. As well as the incredible further damage that would have caused to this country.
Happy Thanksgiving FRiend.
Already spent over an hour and a half with two "chats" and finally gave up..........
I'm not happy this Thanksgiving since it's been no different than the past couple..........
With that being said, I am thankful that Trump was elected..........
"A bore is someone who deprives you of solitude without providing you with company."
Quiet can be good. I worked 300 hours last month and am actually doing work today as well. That is the nature of IT any more. But I can work from home (I go into work about one day a month) so it isn’t that big a deal. As long as it doesn’t cut into my FR time, I don’t care.
Blessings on you Dirtboy from Jimmy Valentine and his small family.
Quadruple amens to that.
And blessings to you, FRiend.
