Yeah, wood can be pretty, but not exactly helpful with function.
Once tamed an H&H with a stock from these folk -

You might think that such a stock would make it "flippy", worse with the recoil and such. Nope. Got one with a premium recoil pad. Full floated the barrel and glassed in the receiver. Made it manageable to shoot from the bench and oh-so-sweet standing, using 270 to 300 grain handloads.
