He admits in the article that he left off his name & rank markins so as not to be mistaken for active duty, & apparently he was wearing his cover indoors (or cap - however the Army refers to it).
So here we have an issue of a guy making a stolen-valor uniform lapse. He’s a real soldier, but the lapse in uniform standards probably caught the eyes of a bunch of veterans. Maybe one spoke up, maybe not.
But once he proved his veracity - full stop, end of story. Or should have been.
My better half & I went out to Applebee’s for the veterans’ meal Friday night. I appreciated that because otherwise we could not have gone out. Yes, they checked our VA cards for proof first. We were fine with that.
Out of curiosity, is it normal to have your discharge papers on you in addition to your Veteran’s ID?
What? They required ID? It’s not like voting?
Our nearest Applebee’s has lousy cold food. We live in a small rural community, and there are no real sit down places to eat. DQ gave out free ice cream cones. Lots of fast food places that did not do a thing.
We take and appreciate the advantage of Lowe’s and Home Depot’s Military discount, takes care of our sales tax of 10%. And you always have to present Military ID. They even apply it to having gutters put up on your house on the product, not installation.
