I am not in a position to speak for FreeRepublic or for JimRob but I think I can offer an educated guess.
First, linking to pedophile sites *might* be construed as participation in their activities. That's something we certainly wouldn't even want an unwarranted appearance of.
Second, sometimes a hot link to a questionable site can cause the whole of FR to be flagged by search engines as unsafe. This has happened in the past, where a poster unknowingly linked to such a site and suddenly everyone attempting to log on to FR was either denied access or given serious warning messages from their browser/search engine.

The link he pulled was from reddit and the reason said “source not allowed”
I’m not sure if that website is banned from here, or if some of the links I had to some pictures were too disturbing.
