Plenty of people believed that McMartin happened as well. People with kids there, people close to the events. But there wasn’t a lick of evidence to back up their fears. It was hysteria, it dragged out for years and was the most expensive trial of the era. All due to some ‘child advocates’ whose interviewing technique planted ideas in the kid’s heads. In a just world those clowns would have ended up in the slammer.
Franklin is said to include charges of cannibalism and CIA arms dealing. Does your exec secretary buy into that? People tend to imagine that cases are valid because they haven’t heard all of the preposterous nonsense being claimed as part of the case. Their attitude often changes when they hear the full story.
