Petty Vengeance

This book is John DeCamp's campaign to exact vengeance against prominent Nebraskans who failed to support him, when false allegations of child-abuse against Decamp in 1984 torpedoed his US Senate nomination and ultimately destroyed his political career.

DeCamp tells the story on pages 63-65. DeCamp was a frontrunner for nomination as Republican candidate for US Senate, but the party machine wanted a woman to be nominated instead. A false allegation of child abuse against DeCamp was subsequently exploited by party officials and extensively covered in local press, resulting in DeCamp losing the nomination and ultimately leaving politics altogether.

DeCamp's opportunity to exact vengeance against his perceived enemies came when allegations of child abuse were later made against several of them. The investigation into these allegations was on the point of collapse however, and it seemed that these allegations might never be made public - so DeCamp made them public himself by circulating "the DeCamp memo". Two Grand Juries failed to indict all of DeCamp's targets, so to ensure that the allegations would never die DeCamp dedicated his life to repeating them endlessly and this book is part of that campaign. The key to the book is revealed when DeCamp observes on page 62:
"Accusations of child abuse are the worst accusations you can make against an individual. That is because, no matter what the truth of the matter, once the accusation is made, it will never be able to be rubbed completely off, even if the individual accused is as innocent and pure as can be.

The rest of the book could be subtitled; "Why I, John DeCamp, am America's greatest hero", and talks about his adventures as the consigliere of the Militia/Freemen/Patriot movement.

DeCamp has apparently recruited failed child-welfare writer Nicholas Bryant to carry on the campaign, with a new Franklin book sanitized of the tarnishing baggage of discredited "investigators" such as Patriot King Ted Gunderson's involvement in the case.

But Vindalf didn't stop there...

Disappointed

Sounds like Vindalf might be a troll.

So now anybody interested in Vindalf's 'review' can go to the link in reply 31 and read 'the rest of the story' instead of some troll's impressions.

84/85 and 86/87 on the counter there.
