8-7 in 10 innings
Just great.
Lebron was supposed to break the trend. Maybe the Cavs win was a glitch in the Matrix. Fully expect a timeline shift a few years from now where we just accept that the Warriors won.
Why does god curse me so? For instance.... Why in the sam hell was it 70+ degrees in Cleveland? I wanted 38 degrees with the threat of snow flurries. Knock a few feet off of those 6 Cubbie homers in the final two games.
It’s about as bad as John Kerry calling the Packers’ Lambeau Field, Lambert Field.
Two douche bags who have their heads up their arses.
Of course, there was a young guy named Billy Williams, and Ron Santo, and Kenny Hubbs, and ......but it was Ernie and Jack Brickhouse who were there year after year. Even through the College of Coaches, and Merritt Ranew, Sammy Taylor, Elvin Tappe, Dick Bertell, Dale Long, Bob Will, and a string of names and faces that compete with Marv Throneberry in the "who was that guy?" trivia games.
Looking at the picture down-thread, I remember thinking how much Jack Brickhouse looked like my father. And now that I have more forehead than hair-line, I notice a resemblance. If only I could be so cheerful all the time...
Hey, Hey!
Still got my self recorded VHS tape of the Bears Superbowl victory. Also has the Super Bowl Shuffle! I also have the VHS recording of games 1 & 2 of the 1984 Cub / Padres playoffs (I destroyed Games 3,4,& 5 many years ago).
Any idea what year the Jack Brickhouse picture in post 198 is from? I would like to add that to the file name when I save the picture. Thanks.
But really, it was in 2014 that Curt Schilling--appearing on The Herd with Colin Cowherd (then on ESPN Radio) in spring 2014--specifically nailed the reason why the Cubs played below their potential: they played too many day games at Wrigley Field, mostly because the Chicago City Council member who represented the area didn't want that many night games at the ballpark. As such, Cubs players had biological clocks "out of sync" with most other MLB players, and played poorly outside of Wrigley Field and during the playoffs, when it was mostly night games.
To alleviate that situation, the Cubs installed "mood lighting" throughout their new clubhouse (which opened this past season) so players could adjust their biological clocks to play well regardless of start time. That's why the Cubs won 103 regular season games and now the World Series.
that’s a great photo, not only of Jack but of the Wrigley I knew. Awesome. Thanks for posting it!
Sorry no idea. I just did a search and that seemed the best picture to me. I couldn’t see any reference to the photo in this article which is the web source of it.
